On Tuesday, March 15, Mayor Nicole Condrey and Middletown City Council honored Adam Johnson with a posthumous recognition for his family. Sadly, he passed away in September, 2021 from COVID, and his absence has left a void with not only his family but also the City of Middletown Park Department.
Adam diligently served the citizens of the Middletown community as a Middletown City Park Board member for two years and as a Park Board Chairman for one year, solely as a volunteer. While in his professional career he was a metal worker, in his spare time he enjoyed riding, racing, and mentoring with BMX bikes. As a lifetime Middletonian, Adam loved his city and wanted to find a special way to give back to the community he adored. His experience, leadership, and local perspective provided new ideas and a fresh outlook for the Park Board. He accepted the chairman as a new member and showed genuine interest and participation in the Tree Commission Academy. He confidently represented Park Board at City Council meetings and shared his experience and knowledge. His concerted efforts strengthened the city’s park system and urban forest but will also leave a lasting legacy of Adam as it improves every citizen’s quality of life.
The City of Middletown proudly acknowledges Adam’s outstanding contributions and recognizes that the City of Middletown is a better place to live, work, and raise families because of his service. At the meeting, the City of Middletown and City of Middletown Park Board extended their deepest thank you to Mr. Johnson’s family for his service and contribution to the community.
