Cost of college went up for all students at Miami University-Middletown

In-state tuition and fees rose 13.7 percent for 2018-19 at Miami University-Middletown, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Ohio residents paid $5,880 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $707 more than the $5,173 charged for 2017-18.

Non-resident students would have paid 180.1 percent more than residents this year, or $16,472. Non-resident tuition and fees grew 8.2 percent from $15,228 in 2017-18.

About 92 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Ohio residents. And about 8 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 81 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 153 students received grants or scholarships totaling $663,268 and 134 students took out student loans totaling more than $661,214.

Including all undergraduates (1,831), 742 students used grants or scholarships totaling $3.1 million, and 739 students took out $4.4 million in federal student loans.
