World War II Veteran and Long-Time Arby’s Fan Receives Special Gift to Celebrate His 101st Birthday

32

Arby's issued the following announcement on Jan. 18

There are a lot of Arby’s fans out there, but World War II veteran airman John Anglin – who also happens to be 101 years old – stands out as a loyal brand ambassador.

Since 1986, John has been a loyal Arby’s customer and stops by for lunch almost every day – and he doesn’t plan on changing that any time soon. This World War II veteran recently celebrated his 101st birthday on December 19 and, you guessed it, drove to Arby’s #5052 on State Road 20 in Oak Harbor, Washington for his big birthday meal.

“He goes almost every day for lunch with his son,” explained Matt Anglin, John’s grandson. “My grandfather always orders the Classic Roast Beef sandwich and my uncle loves the chicken.”

With over a century of life experience under his belt, John knows a thing or two about quality food and quality service.

“Of course, he’s tried meals from competitors over the years, but he really prefers Arby’s,” Matt said. “He could go anywhere else – but Arby’s is his favorite. I love Arby’s myself!”

The restaurant team members all adore John, and Matt shared that they all look forward to John’s visits – they’ve even started to memorize his order.

“It’s always so cool to go to Arby’s because the people recognize him and always wave at him,” Matt shared. “My grandfather has always loved gardening and at one point, he always brought flowers when he visited. He’s always loved planes and even built his own airplane from scratch in his retirement – he flew into his 80s!”

As a token of appreciation, Arby’s is sending John a birthday package that includes Arby’s gift cards and swag he can wear on his next trip to his favorite restaurant.
