City of Monroe issued the following announcement on Jan. 25
On Thursday January 27, 2022 planned improvements will occur to the signal at State Route 63 and Main Street. Additional equipment will be added to the intersection to add a protected left turn function to the north and south bound turn lanes of State Route 63. This means that all traffic turning left onto Main Street from State Route 63 can turn on a green arrow only.
This will cause extra time at this intersection for all phases of traffic. Green time will be added to State Route 63 to compensate for the additional time needed for the protected left. This means that north and south bound traffic on Main Street will have longer wait times during the red phase of the signal.
These changes are being made as safety upgrades to the signal. Please be patient as we all adjust to this signal operation change! Future improvements are being planned to add storage to the left turn lanes at the intersection as traffic volumes continue to increase.
