Council has set a Strategic Priority to develop a plan for Downtown Development.  Working toward this, the City is looking to establish the use of incentives to catalyze development and reinvestment in the downtown.

As a first step toward Downtown Development, Council established the Historic Preservation Commission.  This is a five-member Commission that would consider the area or areas to focus on.  This Commission would also work with the Ohio History Connection to adopt regulations specific to those areas.

As of now, we do not have enough volunteers to serve on this Commission.  If you would like to be part of this goal to establish a plan for downtown development and adopt regulations, please let us know!

Here is a link to the legislation that goes into great detail about this Commission. http://www.monroeohio.org/.../Ordinance-Number-2022-21-PDF Basically, you would be making decisions for the future of our great City.

If you have an interest in volunteering just submit a letter of interest, including why you would want to serve on this Commission, and a resume to the Clerk of Council at wassona@monroeohio.org, or Angela S. Wasson, Clerk of Council, 233 South Main Street, P. O. Box 330, Monroe, Ohio 45050.
