The Ohio House of Representatives has passed a bill aimed at protecting Ohioans from rising property taxes. The Ohio Homeowners Relief Act, also known as House Bill 187, will modify the procedures used by the Tax Commissioner to conduct property tax sales assessment ratio studies. The bill requires the Commissioner to work alongside local elected officials and consider the past three years of a county's property values when determining property tax, instead of just one year.

State Rep. Thomas Hall, the sponsor of the bill, emphasized the importance of this legislation during his floor speech.
