Duke Energy is currently working through a contractor (Southern Cross) to perform Leak Surveys and Atmospheric Corrosion Inspections throughout the City. This is a regulatory compliance program, which requires Duke's technicians to periodically survey the underground facilities, including gas mains and services, and to perform a visual check of the gas meter.
Contractors will be performing this work at various locations across the community from now until the end of the year. Duke Energy contractors will carry a Duke Energy badge and leak detection equipment, and will be in the field during daylight hours (roughly 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.).
Customers do not need to be home during these inspections as no entry into the residence is required. Should the contractor need to survey any facilities that would require entrance to a locked gate, they may attempt to make contact with the customer to gain access.
