The City of Monroe monthly trash rates are increasing from $18.48 to $21.81 effective with the February 20234 bills (due in March).
Residential trash rates will increase $3.33 per month in February 2023, and there will be no residential trash rate increases in 2024 or 2025.
On October 11, 2022, City Council passed legislation allowing the City to enter into a new 3-year agreement with Rumpke of Ohio, Inc beginning February 1, 2023. The contract includes an 18% increase to the City’s rates in year one (2023), and no increase in years 2 and 3 (2024 and 2025) of the contract. Due to this contractual increase from Rumpke, an increase to the City’s trash rates were necessary for the Garbage Fund to remain positive throughout the contract term. On January 10, 2023, City Council passed legislation for the increase to the rate charged for garbage and trash collection which goes into effect February 1, 2023.
