The Ohio House of Representatives passed Substitute House Bill 2 today, marking the approval of the state’s two-year construction budget for capital projects. State Rep. Sara Carruthers (R-Hamilton) announced that the Capital Budget will make significant investments in local community projects.
Carruthers secured funding for several key initiatives in Butler County and surrounding areas:
- $750,000 to renovate the Champion Paper headquarters in Hamilton;
- $300,000 to rejuvenate Marsh Lake Park in Fairfield by creating a multi-use trail and making infrastructure improvements; and
- $175,000 to replace a 25-year-old splash pad and construct a public restroom in Oxford.
“The capital budget is all about bringing state taxpayer dollars back to our communities,” said Carruthers. “The investments made within the district and across Ohio will benefit our communities for years to come.”
Additionally, the legislation includes substantial statewide capital investments:
- $600 million for the School Building Program Assistance Fund;
- $400 million for the Public Works Commission Local Public Infrastructure and State Capital Improvement Program; and
- $397.6 million for higher education projects around the state.
Substitute House Bill 2 now awaits a signature from the Governor.
