State Representative Jennifer Gross of West Chester has urged Congress to renew the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017. This act, which is set to expire on December 31, 2025, has been credited with providing tax relief to over 100 million Americans and stimulating economic growth.
Gross stated, "The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 fueled economic growth, providing real tax relief to over 100 million Americans, especially middle and working-class families here in Ohio. If these provisions are allowed to expire, it would lead to a significant tax increase on hardworking Americans at a time when every dollar saved counts. Extending these tax cuts is essential for safeguarding our economic progress and ensuring that America remains competitive on the global stage. I urge Congress to do right by its citizens and renew the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017."
Key components of the act include reductions in personal income tax rates, an increased standard deduction, and a reduced Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT). If not extended, there is concern about potential tax increases for Americans, a shrinking federal tax base, and decreased U.S. competitiveness globally.
