Jennifer Gross | The Ohio House of Representatives
State Representative Jennifer Gross has announced the Ohio House of Representatives' approval of Senate Bill 100. This legislation aims to provide members of the Ohio Farm Bureau with access to a more affordable and personalized health insurance plan.
The bill addresses a significant challenge for those in the agriculture sector: obtaining affordable healthcare for their families. The Farm Bureau Health Plan, established by this bill, is individually evaluated, self-governed, and self-funded for Ohio Farm Bureau members. It is exempt from regulation and not subject to Affordable Care Act guidelines. Senate Bill 100 offers an alternative option for more affordable healthcare coverage within the agricultural community.
"Ohio’s agriculture industry is the backbone of our economy," said Rep. Gross. "Senate Bill 100 ensures that farmers, and their families, have access to affordable, flexible healthcare options that meet their unique needs. I was proud to support this bill, and I believe it’s a meaningful step toward strengthening the future of agriculture in our state."
Agriculture holds a prominent place in Ohio's economy, with an economic impact exceeding $100 billion and employing one out of every seven residents. The state boasts over 75,000 farms, with 90% being family-owned.
Senate Bill 100 now awaits the Governor's signature.
