Warren Davidson, U.S. Congressman representing Ohio’s 8th district since 2016, shared updates on legislative efforts related to digital assets and central bank digital currency (CBDC) through a series of posts on July 17, 2025.
In his first post, Davidson reflected on the progress of legislation for digital assets: "When I introduced the Token Taxonomy Act in 2018, I naively believed we could establish a brightline test for digital assets by mid-2019. It's long overdue, but today we will finally send this framework to the Senate. Let's move swiftly now to deliver CLARITY!" (July 17, 2025).
Later that day, Davidson voiced strong opposition to CBDCs, stating: "As long as it takes, as much as it takes… even if the United States stands alone in the world, BAN CENTRAL BANK DIGITAL CURRENCY! 3 minutes to hear the truth https://t.co/iLrHlw5GM8" (July 17, 2025).
In his final update of the day, Davidson announced recent legislative action: "The Anti-CBDC Act passed in a vote of 219-210 with 2 Democrats voting in favor. Only 2 Democrats in the House oppose communist banking. They want to separate you from access to your own money with the creepiest surveillance tool ever developed - Central Bank Digital Currency." (July 17, 2025).
Davidson has been an advocate for regulatory clarity regarding digital assets since introducing the Token Taxonomy Act in 2018. He has consistently opposed central bank-issued digital currencies and emphasizes privacy concerns associated with their implementation.
Warren Davidson was born in Sidney, Ohio in 1970 and currently resides in Troy. Before joining Congress after replacing John Boehner in 2016, he served on the Concord Township Board of Trustees from 2004 to 2005.
